Alberto Quacquarini Vernaccia di Serrapetrona Secco is a wonderful wine.

Deep red, slightly sparkling, complex and flat-out delicious.Vernaccia di Serrapetrona, also called Vernaccia Nera, is grown in a few spots in central Italy. It has a murky past and no relation to the famous white wines of San Gimignano.

Everything is harvested by hand and the grapes are then approached in 2 ways. Approximately 40% of them are vinified traditionally and the rest are dried until the following January before being pressed. The grape juices are then reunited and the final fermentation takes place, providing delightful carbonation.

You are rewarded with an aroma of spices; clove, cinnamon and black pepper. Then comes the lavender with hints of honey. Then the flavors engage you. Plums, cocoa, leather and a hint of tobacco.

This is a sparkling red wine.
