2014 Alain Geoffroy Bourgogne Pinot Noir
This Bourgogne Rouge is the perfect go-to, light-bodied red. Delicate red fruit aromas are balanced by an a fresh herbal note, mineral undertones, and a lingering finish.
Notes from the Importer
This is ravishingly pretty, pure stone fruit, more like a Juillot wine than this simple appellation. Exceptionally low yields of two tons an acre helped, and the decision was made not to fine given the elegance of the fruit. Successive tiny vintages have necessitated a price increase, but this still offers good value for such quality.
Notes from the winery, which I have tried to preserve:
Pretty dark garnet colour, pretty radiant and limpid appearance.
is complex, with red fruit aromas dominated by sour cherry.
The attack is strong, straightforward and has the same aromatic note, combined with red fruit. Fine and delicate tannins. A very pleasant to drink wine owing to its balance. It has good potential.
12 to 14° served with a meal.
They have some food pairings as well, which are pretty nifty. Check out recipes for Rabbit with Mustard and Warm Calf Head Terrine.
