2019 Chateau Massiac Minervois Les Sentinelles
Perched on the southernmost point of the Massif Central is the farm of Bernard and Francine Boudovresque with its fields of lavender, thyme and rosemary along with their vineyards. Dedicated to the all-too-little explored potential of the local grape variety Carignan, Château Massiac is from the Languedoc appellation of Minervois. The Sentinelle is a juicy blend of Syrah and Carignan with plenty of goût de terroir that would be totally at home poured from a pitcher and served with herb-grilled vegetables.
The “Sentinelle” cuvee is the more precocious of the two reds produced at Massiac. The tannins are more supple and the fruit a touch “sweeter”, more forward and less rustic than its companion. Fermentation and elevage are in tank. The wine is bottled within a year of the harvest. The blend is usually two-thirds Syrah and one-third Carignan.
67% Syrah, 33% Carignan
