The El Andén De La Estación by Bodegas Muga from La Rioja presents a dense crimson colour in the glass. The first nose of El Andén De La Estación presents nuances of mulberries, blueberries and blackcurrants. The fruity parts of the bouquet are accompanied by notes of cask ageing such as oak, juniper and Mediterranean herbs. This velvety red wine is impressive and complex on the palate. The balanced fruit acidity flatters the El Andén De La Estación with a soft feeling on the palate, without missing out on juicy liveliness. In the finish, this red wine from the wine-growing region of La Rioja finally inspires with considerable length. Again, there are hints of mulberry and blueberry. In the reverberation, mineral notes of the soils dominated by limestone and clay are added. 65% Tempranillo, 35% Garnacha 90 points Wine Enthusiast: "Deep ruby to the eye, this wine has a nose of pomegranate and espresso with a sense of earthiness. Velvet tannins play backup to flavors of black cherry, pomegranate, caramel, roasted yellow pepper and tomato leaf that wind down to a savory but bright finish." Muga El Anden De La Estacion Made with the Tempranillo and Garnacha varieties - El Andén de la Estación is a modern-style wine that ages in oak barrels produced in the winery itself for 14 months. Muga El Andén de la Estación Crianza is a new project launched in 2020 by the Muga family. As one of the most traditional yet forward thinking viticultural families in Rioja, the bodega has made significant investments in new vineyard holdings through planting and acquiring parcels from growers over the last 30 years. Andén de la Estación, a name which pays homage to the train station that was responsible for shipping wine from Rioja to Bordeaux during the phylloxera, was born out of the family's desire to produce a traditional style classically gastronomic Rioja Crianza, with a profile showcasing the Muga signature complemented by a youthful and fresh profile. (Winery) About: Bodegas Muga is a family firm founded in 1932 by Isaac Muga and Aurora Caño. The first wines were made in an underground cellar, until in 1968 they decided to set up their own winery in a beautiful old 19th-century town-house situated in the city of Haro. The Bodegas Muga outstanding feature is that it always uses the finest materials, combining tradition with the latest advances in winemaking so as always to give its wines the very best quality without losing authenticity. Indeed, it is the only wine cellar in Spain which employs its own master cooper and coopers, who make all the vats for the cellar as well as the oak casks. The winery remains true to traditional winemaking methods such as racking the casks by gravity and fining the wine with fresh egg whites. Bodegas Muga has succeeded in combining the purest family tradition with an updated vision of the future which has allowed them to preserve their own personality and character. (Winery)
