2018 Chateau Cartier St Emilion GC
Second wine of Château Fonroqu, Château Cartier seems to have a "second wine" only in name. The choice of the term "Château" before that of "Cartier" is not insignificant. Although its ageing potential is shorter than that of Fonroque, it is reputed to be rounder and more flexible and clearly has its own identity. This vintage is fine and fruity with a tense and persistent finish. This second wine, which looks like a premier, is a great success, a very good deal in Saint-Emilion Grand Cru.
A beautifully deep colour. Refined on the nose, offering up blackberry, smoky spice, peppermint and pastry aromas in turn. The wine is soft in the attack before quickly gaining breadth with silky tannins and a beautifully tonic, lingering finish.
France, Bordeaux, Saint-Emilion
