2016 Contesa Trebbiano d'Abruzzo
In 1903, two neighbors in the countryside of Miglianico, a village in the ancient Kingdom of Italy, were farming grapes. One of the men had a giant oak on his property which shaded his neighbor's vines preventing good growth. Since the vines were dying, Antonio Caramanico decided to bring his hogs to the area to feast on acorns. The neighbor owning the tree wanted payment for the acorns, which started the long dispute between them. Legal costs ate awayat the vineyard property and when the next generation took over it required the purchase of new land to continue making wine. The combination of property and desire to make fine wine has lead them to give up pigs for exclusive winemaking.
From trebbiano grapes from a 25 Years old vineyard with low yield per hectare. Late harvest. Natural setting of the must by temperature control. Not filtered. An aroma expressing scents of essences of ripe fruit. The taste is fresh, structured and persistent, finishing with almond notes.
