2016 Ciacci Piccolomini Rosso di Montalcino
Ciacci Piccolmini is one of the most sought-after producers in all of Italy. This ancient estate has 35 hectares of superior holdings in the prized Castelnuovo dell’Abate zone, including the ‘Pianrosso’ vineyard (meaning ‘red field,’ a reference to the iron rich soils) and the ‘Fonte’ vineyard, which produces grapes for the Rosso di Montalcino.
100% Sangiovese Grosso from Ciacci’s Montalcino estate. Vineyards are located at 240-360 meters above sea level with mineral-rich galestro soils. Fermentation takes place in a combination of stainless steel and cement tank. Wine is aged in large Slavonian oak barrels for 12 months before bottling.
Ruby red color. Expansive aromas of fresh fruit with red berries complemented with light floral and spicy notes. Warm, quite soft, structured and balanced with pleasantly pronounced tannins.
