2015 Cottanera Barbazzale Bianco
For some reason, we have connected the delicious Barbazzale with Barbarella, Roger Vadim's 1968 science fiction film starring Jane Fonda. The movie is has a cult following and is rather kitschy, but has influenced many other folks, including Duran Duran, Kylie Minogue and Jean-Paul Gautier.
Gugliemo Cambria and his brother Enzo began planting autochthonous grapes in 1990 on the northern slopes of the volcano Mt Etna. Those grapes included Inzolia. There are no irrigation systems and the vines are attended to by only a team of women who manage every step through the harvest.
The Barbazzale Bianco is a blend of Inzolia and Viognier grapes. It has a delicate scent of wisteria and broom on an iodine background. A spirited freshness leaving a pleasing, full bodied sensation.
