2014 Roland Thevenin Savigny Les Beaune Blanc
Roland Thevenin was a grape grower in the first part of the Twentieth Century selling his fruit to negociants. His family kept the farming practice for many years before selling the property and the reputable name. Today, Gregory Patriat, the winemaker for Jean Claude Boisset is making small lots of wine under the name Roland Thevenin.
The Savigny Les Beaune is produced from two established vineyards, one with 45 year old vines and the other 61 year old vines. Aromas of licorice, herbs, fennel and tropical fruit. Licorice continues on the palate along with tropical fruit and lovely minerality. This is complex, round, and very enjoyable. The age of the vineyards is reflected in the layers of this wine.
