2014 Denis Jeandeau Vire Clesse
Denis Jeandreau's story is like so many other Frenchmen, generations of family members growing grapes and making wine. Denis produces a limited amount of whites in the Macconnais region of Burgundy. He does everything by hand including plowing the fields with the help of his horse. Situated on the steep hills of the village of Vire, the vines grow on layers of clay and superior soils which have the reputation of delivering some of the best wines in Burgundy.
The nose expresses itself with acacia flower, spring honeysuckle bouquet, white peach, menthol and verbena. Lively and fresh, slightly sharp yet full of roundness, the wine offers a safe cornerstone of the white wines of the Macconnais. Finesse and flexibility on the palate, with a tender and spontaneous side of lively mintyness. The wine represents the region beautifully.
