2014 Benovia Pinot Noir La Pommeraie
Benovia winery set out to produce a few great wines. They discovered that great fruit would be the best way to do that so they bought some revered vineyards and contracted with others. The Martinelli family is recognized as one of the superior producers in Sonoma County so Benovia decided to buy grapes from them and chose the renowned Zio Tony vineyard and produced them as La Pommeraie wines.
This ridge top vineyard sits along the neighborhood of Laguna Ridge in the Russian River AVA. Gravenstein apples have given way to newer selections of Pinot Noir from Burgundy.
This extraordinary single vineyard Pinot Noir gives an immediate impression of depth and concentration in the glass, with remarkably explosive aromas of boysenberry and vine ripened black raspberry. The palate is viscous and rich, yet light on its feet, with fine-polished tannins and an exceptionally balanced acidity.
äóìModerately dark reddish purple color in the glass. This is a real crowd pleaser with intoxicating aromas of dark berry jam, toasty oak and rose petal. The mid weight plus core of showy and gorgeous purple and black fruits literally explode on the palate. The ripe tannins are well matched and there is enough juicy acidity to keep the wine vibrant. A bombastic but gentle wine that displays the hallmark of a great Pinot Noir.äó?
