2014 Barberani Polago
This wine is grown in the green hills of Umbria and the Barberani family has learned over the decades how to coax the best out of their fruit. Each of the wines we have tasted from this winery has been delightful and priced fairly.
The Polago is a blend of Sangiovese and Montepulciano, two grapes they have loved to work with. They join elegance and drinkability with character and personality. It is ruby red with scents of berries and is vivid, fruity, and lively.

"Bright and aromatic red with crushed berry and lemon rind character. Medium body, solid core of ripe fruit, round tannins and a backbone of ripe acidity. Long and intense."

"Bright red. Perfumed nose of red berries, licorice and minerals. Fresh and juicy, offering bright flavors of strawberry, sour red cherry and wet stones. Finishes long, with a hint of violet and a whiplash of juicy acidity. Lovely entry-level wine for Barberani, made from old vines; the blend is 60% Sangiovese and 40% Montepulciano. Offers early accessibility and irresistible fruit-first personality."
