2012 Jacques Girardin Santenay Clos Rousseau 1er Cru
Following WW2, the Girardin family sold their cattle and cleared their property to plant grapes. It paid off as the quality of the wine has improved dramatically every year and thus they have been able to acquire more premier cru land.
The red wine is supple and fruity, characterized by aromas of blackberry, cassis and spice, and drink well when young due to the silky tannins. The general style is slightly rustic with luscious, lingering fruit and a classic Burgundian earthiness.
