2009 D'Alfonso Curran Syrah Black Oak
Kris Curran met Bruno d'Alfonso while she was a part-time employee and Bruno was making wine. Kris decided that enology school was a good idea and upon completion, she landed at Cambria Estate Vineyards as an assistant winemaker before moving on to Koehler Winery. In 2000, she was hired at Sea Smoke where her reputation was established as a leading winemaker. Bruno was toiling at Sanford and courting her in his spare time.
Their first "official" partnership began in 1997 when they started making wines together. The courting eventually paid off as well, when they married in 2007. After a successful turn at Sea Smoke, Kris took a project over at Foley. When it ended, she vowed to spend all of her time making wine with Bruno.
Inky dark in color, with notes of black cherry, candied apples, exotic spices and fine leather. Fleshy, extracted, yet elegant, with a smooth, velvety structure. This syrah is multi-faceted and multi-layered with a long, brooding finish.
