The Galician company Bodegas Godeval produces their wines today with the same effort and commitment with which they began, 30 years ago, to recover the white variety godello, under the Valdeorras Apellation. At its facilities, located in the historic setting of Xagoaza (O Barco) it combines medieval architecture with modern winemaking facilities.

Bodegas Godeval was founded in 1986, by Horacio Fernandez Presa, who was leading the revival of the vineyards of Valdeorras. The goal was to save the indigenous and nearly extinct Godello grape. His 45 acres which are located on the steep hillsides above the Sil River is also home to a medieval ensemble of buildings that were the most important religious, cultural and official of the Valley. The Monastery of San Miguel of Xagoaza was owned in 1092 by the Prior of the Templar Knights and in about 1252 it was passed onto the Military Order of San Juan de Jerusalem. Presa has restored the buildings and built a new winery above them on the hillside.

Fresh aromas of citrus and bright herbal notes that continue on the palate with green apple and pit fruit flavors that round out the mineral acidity. Extremely versatile at the table.
