Bouchaine is the oldest continuously operating winery in Carneros, a region located on the southern tip of Napa Valley. In the late 1880s, a Missouri-born settler named Boon Fly planted grapes and fruit trees on the property. An Italian winemaker named Johnny Garetto bought the land in 1927 and farmed it until 1961, when he sold to Beringer.

After 20 years as a storage facility, the dilapidated winery buildings were purchased by Gerret and Tatiana Copeland, along with 30 acres of the surrounding land.

Over the years, the Copelands continued to update the property, expanding the vineyards to 100 acres, and invested their time and passion into building a sustainable, family-owned estate.

Winemaker Notes
This wine is the liquid version of a walk through a Carneros vineyard in Spring. Bursting with aromas of white flowers, fresh peach, and tangy apple notes. With time in the glass, the nose opens to beeswax, lavender, and honey. The tangy complex palate shows bright acidity, drawing out flavors of lemongrass and Asian pear with a long graceful finish.

Wine Enthusiast 90
Peach, apricot and pear flavors combine around the crisp palate of this white wine from a famous site. It finishes on a rich tone of vanilla.

Only 345 cases of this gem of a wine were produced. We are often told that Riesling is sweet. This wine is not sweet at all. Using the IRF scale, it would be classified as "Medium Dry". That means that the Sugar to Acid ratio is between 1 and 2. In this case, sugars are at 10 g/L and acid is at 7.1 g/L. The ratio is 1.4 to 1; Medium Dry...not sweet.
