2017 Hans Wirsching Rose
The Wirsching family’s history in Iphofen dates back to 1528. The estate buildings and the cellar were completed in 1550 and the estate was officially established in 1630 with vineyards gifted to the Wirschings from the abbey at Ebrach. Starting a winery during the brutal 30 Years War, the Swedish Intervention showed that they were here for the long run.
Rose wines are made from red grapes, but in the style ascribed to making white wines. The berries lie with the skins for only a short time, long enough to leave a delicate red color. This Rose is made from Pinot Noir and Portugieser grapes to provide ample fruity aroma.
Lovely floral nose with scents of strawberry and a hint of licorice. Fresh, bright and invigorating like an early spring morning. Delicious acidity and minerality with berries and peaches. A delightful finish.'
Some combination of Pinot Meunier, Portugieser, Domina
