2016 Bartolomeo Barolo Altenasso
Founded in 1924 by grandfather Cavalier Bartolomeo, who learned to grow grapes from his father. Three generations later, most of the vines are now renewed except for those belonging to the Nebbiolo da Barolo, which remained intact and untouched. The cellars and winery have been modernized and improved since the early days. The kids are doing alright.
Color: Garnet red with distinctive orange glares that become more evident with aging.
Aroma: Quite intense, persistent and delicate, with hints of blueberry, black plum and slight trances of candied orange peel, dried almonds, woody and boisè moods
Taste: Dry, lightly fresh but sapid, very warm, still tannic, well structured and persistent with a bitterish background.
The wine is made of selected grapes, hailed from the vineyards owned by the company located near Castiglione Falletto, a hamlet bordering on Barolo. They produce 9,000 bottles a year with a capacity of 75, 150 and 300 cl.
Italy, Piedmont, Cuneo, Castiglione Falletto
