We at the Accidental Wine Company have long wanted a house brand and have long waited for the right opportunity. This year, the right kind of luck wandered our way.

The opportunity came when our friend, Mary Elke, decided not to bottle a 2015 vintage of her top-shelf Pinot Noir under her own name, but she didn't tell that to the grape vines. They went on to grow pristine, Anderson Valley grapes, which were turned into a classically styled Pinot Noir by Matt Evans and stored in the best barrels. Barrels that happened to be made by another friend, Francoise.

We've always said wine is better with friends and that applies to making it, too.

Named after two aspiring wine drinkers, the 2015 Asher & August Anderson Valley Pinot Noir is elegant and restrained reflecting the cool climate of the terroir. It is floral with notes of pie cherries and savory spices. The yields on the 2015 vintage were low and so the fruit is more concentrated and the tannins larger than usual.

Grapes for this wine were hand-picked from Donnelly Creek Vineyard on August 29, 2015. The local, native yeasts were used as they seemed to get along well with the grapes. They managed to coax out floral, cherry pie and spiced aromas. The flavors carry through to the palate and tease out firm tannins with a trace of bitterness. The wine has excellent balance.
