2013 Michele Chiarlo Barbaresco Reyna
Michele Chiarlo graduated from enology school in 1956 and followed seven generations of wine growers into the business. When he started, the wines of Piemonte rarely left the area, but in the 60's he was a part of the movement to improve the wines of the region and export them to the rest of Europe and the US.
Today son's Stefano and Alberto are heavily involved in the wholly owned family business. They have been at the forefront to earn DOCG recognition for Barolo as well as revolutionizing winemaking.
Rivaling Barolo as Piedmont’s best red wine, this garnet colored wine has delicate, complex and refined aromas, with hints of green peppercorns, spice and bitter almonds layered upon the rich berried fruits. On the palate, it is silky and elegant with soft, savory flavors and spicy tones on the finish.
